The Region 14 Men’s Classification Committee has voted to re-instate the Player’s List.  This will result in managers and players knowing ahead of time what players they can and cannot select for their teams to keep them at a lower level.  The list is comprised of the rosters and pick-up player forms that have been submitted for Championship Play and the classification a team earns at a National Tournament or Qualifier.  This is done by either a mandatory or restricted classification at the conclusion of a tournament.  Order of finish and wins are two of the components to classify a team.

Teams are required by ASA Code to remain at the level they have been classified in their next season of Championship play.  If a team elects to “sit out” a few years and then reform, they would still need to compete at the higher level.  Teams have to play in ASA Championship Play tournaments in order to request an appeal to their local classification committee.

Individual players are not allowed to request to be removed from a roster unless they can prove that they did not participate on the roster for the given year in which the team was re-classified.  Pick-up players are also part of the roster and do not have the option to appeal, even if play at a National Tournament was limited.

The Regional Pitcher’s List is a separate list in which pitchers are ranked by the Regional Committee or moved there as a result of ASA Code.  If a pitcher requests a drop in their ranking and it is approved, depending on their team ranking they still may be on the Players List and bound by the limitations of the list.

No more than four players from the list can play on the same team.  If five or more players are on the same team, the lowest classification of the players is used.  The local classification committee has the option to restrict players on the list to certain classifications.  Major players on the list can not play in the “C” Classification.
